The STEAMCamp is returning to the Prince Albert Science Centre in the Gateway Mall for February break to offer children a chance to work in all aspects of STEAM.
Sandra Williams, Chair of the Prince Albert Science Centre, said they were happy to have the popular events return.
“It’s back for February break and this time around we’ve opened it up to seven-year-olds, so it’s seven to 12-year-olds,” Williams said. “We’re doing it from February 17 until the 20, so Tuesday to Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. All four days are different.”
Williams said that it is the policy of the Science Centre not to give away themes but all four days have different themes based on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, arts, and mathematics).
“All of that will be interwoven because STEAM is our North Star of our Science Centre, sso sometimes the kids will come home with an art project,” Williams said.
“Let’s say that we did it at the Science Centre, but we want people to understand that art is part of STEAM, and so we do more than just science per se.”
She said that the price for the STEAMCamp is the same at $25 per camper. If the camper wants to attend for all four days the cost is $100.
Williams said that they are excited to have the STEAMCamp return on February break.
“They’re very successful and the kids have a great time and they are just excited to be there,” she said.
Williams added that they not only want campers to learn, they want them to have fun too.
“What we’re trying to do at the Science Centre is just offer another opportunity in the city of Prince Albert. Prince Albert offers a lot of great opportunities for families. We’re just trying to add to the already great things happening in our city,” Williams said. To register email [email protected] for a registration form.
“We’re just grateful for the support that the city of, that the community gives us by attending our initiatives, and let’s hope we can offer more,” Williams said.
