Here’s a sample of what the news cycle had to offer as Jim presented this edition of the News Round-Up:

–CNN has crafted the worst possible week leading up to what they would call the most watched program on CNN in years, and it didn’t exactly have a stellar reception at the initial announcement.  CNN’s choice for its first two moderators (Jake Tapper and Dana Bash) have consistently expressed open disdain for former President Trump.

–“X” owner Elon Musk confirmed he would ignore CNN’s demands to block or remove live streams of the presidential debate.

–Reports are circulating that former President Trump may spring a big surprise at the debate tonight.

–Hillary Clinton has been laying the groundwork ahead of tonight’s presidential debate by complaining that it’s a waste of time trying to argue with former President Trump.

–President Biden and former President Barack Obama have been meeting privately on several occasions to discuss how they can save their legacy from former President Trump.

–President Joe Biden’s aides are training him to “trigger” former President Trump when they meet on the debate stage this evening.

–Americans who spoke with Fox News Digital detailed their biggest issues ahead of the election; the two top issues being the economy and immigration.

–The Supreme Court struck down a lower court’s injunction preventing the federal government from pressuring big-tech companies to suppress free speech in a pivotal ruling Wednesday.

–Speaking to press on Wednesday morning, Representative Anna Paulina Luna of Florida, along with other GOP reps, held Biden’s Attorney General Merrick Garland in inherent contempt of Congress.

–Representative Jamaal Bowman’s brutal primary loss Tuesday is setting off sirens for another embattled member of the progressive “Squad”: Representative Cory Bush.

–Liberal and moderate Republicans joined forces with former President Donald Trump to oust House Freedom Caucus Chairman Bob Good in last week’s Virginia primary.

–In an interview with impeachment investigators, Hunter Biden claimed he was not an active participant in the Burnham Asset Management venture.  Evidence shows that turns out not to be true.

Draft Our Daughters?

Date: June 26, 2024 Host: Jim Schneider Guest: Elaine Donnelly MP3 | Order

Elaine Donnelly is president of the Center for Military Readiness, an independent, nonpartisan public policy organization that reports on and analyzes military/social issues.  Since its founding in 1993, CMR has advocated for high, uncompromised standards in all forms of military training and sound priorities in the making of military/social policies.  Elaine has published articles on military personnel issues in numerous newspapers and magazines nationwide.

Under consideration in Congress is the National Defense Authorization Act for 2025 (NDAA).  A number of positive initiatives are part of the House version.  However, the Senate version comes with a very controversial mandate.  It would require that for the first time in U.S. history, young women would be required to register with selective service for a possible future draft.

Elaine began by commenting on the state of readiness within our military, how women play into the solution and the mindset behind it.  She indicated that although retention has been holding steady, we’ve had a recruiting crisis taking place for several years.  With so many trouble-spots in the world, she’s not confident that the current administration understands how serious these threats are.  Plus, they are misdirecting millions of dollars of resources to “woke” priorities and actually alienating people.

One example she gave was that of Critical Race Theory (CRT).  She believes that the more we teach CRT, both in civilian schools and the military, it only makes the recruiting crisis much worse, therefore she sees our all-volunteer force as being very much at risk.

Another factor is Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) policies.  Elaine noted that our military works to bring in more individuals that are from “under-served communities” (minorities).  The level of such individuals in the military has gone up.  She’s fine with that but at the same time she sees the recruiting crisis being due to the lack of emphasis on bringing in white males who traditionally have been the backbone of the all-volunteer force.  This means more qualified individuals are often overlooked due to the fact that the Department of Defense sees diversity as a strategic imperative.  In other words, the DOD believes they must be able to discriminate on the basis of race.

Since the DOD believes diversity is a strategic imperative, that “diversity” includes your daughters and they want them to be part of their future military/war plans.  Learn more, and hear how listeners responded, when you review this important edition of Crosstalk.

World Affairs Overview

Date: June 25, 2024 Host: Jim Schneider Guest: Alex Newman MP3 | Order

The world is definitely in turmoil.  Russia, North Korea, Iran and China are a handful of nations that aren’t just problematic, they’re forming alliances that should be a wake-up call to this world.  On the other hand, in some nations, people are rising up and signaling that they no longer want to go in a certain direction any longer.

To address these trends, Crosstalk welcomed back Alex Newman.  Alex is an award-winning international freelance journalist, author, researcher, educator and consultant.  He’s senior editor for The New American.  He is co-author of Crimes of the Educators, author of  Deep State: The Invisible Government Behind the Scenes and author of, Indoctrinating Our Children to Death.  He is founder of Liberty Sentinel.

In this survey of world affairs, Alex focused on the following:

Russia—Their alliance building and a warning from a former Soviet defector.

China—Is their government system the model for an eventual new world order?

China and Taiwan—Is a war between these two nations imminent?

What responsibility do we have to nations like Ukraine and Taiwan?

More nations are beginning to recognize a Palestinian state.  Is this the answer to peace in the Middle East?

Why Argentina is a model for reform for other nations.

The European parliamentary elections.

The impact of the new prime minister of Italy, Giorgia Meloni.

The impact of Mexico’s first female president.

Will we be able to trust the results of the next election?

These points and more were covered while listeners wrapped up the broadcast.
